Stand Up for Animals campaign finishes on a high – 77,837 signatures!

Australians start Olympic medal dash with world record…for animals

The Inherent Cruelty of Live Exports

News reported in The Australian last week again throws up questions regarding the ability of live exporters to influence slaughter practices in importing countries. The paper says: “The first independent audits of Indonesian abattoirs wanting to import and process Australian cattle have found local workers initially failed to meet animal welfare standards, killing cows incorrectly and using blades that were not sharp enough”. FREMANTLE EVENT ATTRACTS A HUGE CROWD IN SUPPORT OF AN END TO LIVE EXPORTS

Live Animal Export Condemned in National Opinion Poll

A new national survey commissioned by the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) has revealed 77% of Australians still think the live export industry is cruel, despite Governments recent claims that new reform will reduce the abuse of exported Australian animals. The poll conducted by Lonergan Research, also found that 80% of Australians believe Labor should support a phase out of live export, in favour of a local chilled meat export industry.
