10,000 Humane Chain letters sent to MPs against live export since Monday, clearly Ministers announcement hasn’t suppressed welfare concerns

Since Monday’s Four Corners program airing the horrific footage captured by Animals Australia, of tortured Australian cattle in Indonesian abattoirs, there’s been a colossal outcry from the community calling for an immediate end to the trade. Government debates ‘risky’ live animal trade as four abattoirs collapse

Growing opposition to the live export trade has led to parliamentary discussion of its impact not just on animal welfare, but also our meat processing industry. On Monday Federal Member for Page, Janelle Saffin introduced aprivate members motion, calling for a transition away from live exports towards a chilled meat trade.
